The Patrol Division is the largest division within the Police Department. Its primary responsibility is to provide quality uniformed law enforcement service to the community. The Patrol division is open 7 days a week 365 days a year. A captain commands the Division. A lieutenant acts as the shift commander and two sergeants act as patrol supervisors for each shift.

Operations personnel responded to 25,757 calls for service in 2007 as well as performing community assignments. These assignments included addressing wide-ranging quality of life issues for the citizens of Arlington. These proactive assignments vary between enforcing traffic and parking laws, patrolling playgrounds and parks, preserving the peace, protecting life and property of all the Town’s citizens. Through the analysis of crime trends and partnerships with the community, patrol officers are deployed to specific locations to maximize police resources.

Our goal is to make every citizen contact with the police a positive one. That is reflective in our mission statement of “Proactive and Proud”. Our commitment to the citizens is to promote, preserve and deliver quality services and to ensure the safety of all members of our community.
