Fall Street Street Sweeping Resumed
The Public Works Department will begin the Town-wide fall street sweeping schedule on Monday, November 21, with route 1. Routes are generally swept sequentially, the last route being 35. Weather permitting, the fall sweep should conclude in late December or when snow fall makes it impossible to continue..
This schedule will be updated weekly (usually Mondays) when a Town-wide street sweeping operation is in progress.
Planned routes week of February 6, 2012: Routes 30-35.
Routes completed: 1-29
Routes left to do: 30-35
Above is the status of street cleaning by route number when a seasonal sweep is in progress. Planned routes for each week are subject to weather, staffing, and equipment integrity. Light rain does not affect sweeping operation. Barring any major weather events the process takes about 7 weeks.
To determine what route number your street is on, please find your street on the following list.
For more details on each season's sweeping operations and ways you can help please visit here.
Please note that according to the Town bylaw, Title III, Article 1, Section 33. Prohibition Against Obstructing Public Ways, it is forbidden to throw, or cause to be placed or thrown, on to any public sidewalk, street, fire hydrant, or highway any snow, dirt, leaves, gravel, or foreign substance or material. Violations of this section shall be punishable by a fine of $25.00 per day if the material is not removed. It is OK to sweep sand, that had been used for winter road conditions, from sidewalks
(only) into streets for sweepers to pick up.
To help us perform the best possible job, please park your cars off-street during your scheduled week. Parked cars prevent a clean sweep. The DPW will not return to sweep streets due to cars parked during the initial visit.
Public Works will continue to sweep the Town's main roads on Thursday nights through out the sweeping seasons.
